Frequently asked questions
Native or cross-platform?
Cross-platform when the app is mainly forms, lists and synchronisation, because a single codebase halves both cost and maintenance. Native when there is heavy use of camera, sensors, maps or graphics performance. The decision is justified in writing before work starts.
Will it work without coverage?
If the use case requires it, yes. Data is stored on the device and synchronises automatically when the connection returns, with conflict resolution defined in advance.
What is a USSD service and when does it make sense?
It is the menu system you reach by dialling a short code such as *123#. It works on any handset, without data and without installing anything. It makes sense when the target audience includes people without a smartphone or a data plan. Deployment requires an agreement with the mobile operator.
Who publishes the app to the stores?
It is published under the client's own developer accounts, so ownership of the app stays with you. If you do not have them yet, you are guided through creation and verification.
